Project Overview

The much anticipated new 2-story, 30,000 sf Colchester Recreation Facility features a full-size multipurpose gymnasium with courts equipped for basketball, volleyball and pickleball and an elevated walking/running track overlooking the courts. Amenities include men’s and women’s locker rooms, classroom/meeting room, a studio, small kitchen, administrative offices, lobby with seating nooks, electrical/mechanical and storage rooms. The second level features access to the track via elevator or stairs, a 3,800 sf fitness area with equipment overlooking the front of the building, a cardio studio, storage and restrooms.

The Town’s purchase of 14 acres of undeveloped land near Bayside Park necessitated full site development including tree clearing, access roads, parking lots, sidewalks, utility connections, and a stormwater retention area.

A solar canopy installed over a portion of the parking area and an abundance of natural lighting support the Town’s investment in renewable energy.
