Project Overview
Beta Technologies hired Engelberth to renovate a portion of the former Energizer Battery Plant for a new, state-of-the-art R&D test facility where battery packs that power Alia, Beta’s electric aircraft, are tested. Phase 1 included adding four concrete testing bunkers, with 10-ft thick concrete walls and MEP components near the building, a pad for pollution-control air scrubber equipment, a new loading area, roadway, space for control equipment and a new stormwater pond. The external bunkers are designed for controlled destructive testing of their critical path batteries in a safe, environmentally friendly manner.
Phase 1 continued with 12,000 sf of interior renovations to support equipment rooms. Work entailed new walls, finishes and supporting fire protection, mechanical HVAC and plumbing, fire alarm and electrical work.
Phase 2 tripled the interior square footage of new space, adding more test equipment areas with offices and conference room in the scope of renovations.
