Project Overview
Built over 100 years ago, Huddleston Hall, a centerpiece on the UNH campus underwent a significant historic preservation. The 4-story, 40,000 sf building has benn transformed into the new Hamel Honors and Scholars College, housing faculty offices, classrooms, a student lounge, and collaborative “huddle” spaces.
The project involved a full renovation of the second floor and partial upgrades to the first and third floors. Work included modernized life safety and energy systems, ADA accessibility upgrades, new/renovated restrooms, and a new elevator.
A new 3,500 SF, two-story ADA-accessible addition serves as the primary entrance. Exterior upgrades included roof shingle replacement, trim and molding repairs, and removal of rooftop mechanicals and an egress system. Site improvements relocated parking and utilities to the rear, with new sidewalks and landscaping added at the front.
