After years of planning and construction, Burlington International Airport’s new North Terminal has officially opened, marking a transformative milestone for air travel in Vermont.
The 60,000-square-foot expansion creates a modern, interconnected passenger experience featuring four new gates, expansive waiting areas, floor-to-ceiling glass, a fireplace lounge, children’s space, family amenities, and administrative offices.
A defining feature of the project is its extensive use of mass timber, including Douglas Fir glulam beams and cross-laminated timber panels that bring warmth and character to the terminal while showcasing sustainable building practices.
Designed with long-term performance in mind, Project NexT incorporates net-zero energy strategies, geothermal heating and cooling, solar energy systems, smart building technologies, and recycled materials.
The result is a welcoming gateway that improves passenger flow, enhances operational efficiency, and positions the airport for future growth.
